Have a fabulous self-catering holiday at Ash Tree Cottage!

Picture
Welcome to our website!
We live at Deer Park Farm, a 115 acre sheep farm on the eastern edge of Dartmoor, Devon.  It is just 2 miles from the A38 - but it's tucked away in a quiet, secluded valley.  Ash Tree Cottage is a self-contained wing of our farmhouse. The farm has amazing wildlife and a spectacular landscape, as well as producing nearly all of our fruit, vegetable, eggs and meat (see more, below). If you love staying in a quiet place - but with easy access to the south west's most popular attractions - you'll have a great holiday at Ash Tree Cottage! This really is a fantastic area for a holiday - close to Dartmoor and the coast, with lots for all ages to enjoy - and so much is completely free! (See the Out and About section, above)

Ash Tree Cottage has 3 double bedrooms, with a maximum capacity of 8 people; you can book the whole cottage, or, in the low season, just the ground floor, which has 1 double bedroom, and a bed settee in the living room.

Booking the whole cottage is ideal for a family holiday, maybe including grandparents, or for a group of friends. The cottage was built, furnished and equipped to very high eco-standards and is cosy, comfortable and stylish. We provide free electricity, towels, bed linen, soap, detergents, loo rolls - and even a carton of milk, a loaf of bread, coffee, tea and more! (see below)
There is a cot and a stair gate available for babies/toddlers
. We have WiFi. Sorry, we don't take pets. No smoking in the cottage.
There are steps leading from the parking area to the cottage; please let us know if any of your party have difficulty with steps, so that we can arrange different access.

Our prices are very reasonable - starting from just £200 per week. We have managed to keep our prices low by not having Visa-type payment facilities - the charges to a small business like ours would mean us raising our prices quite a lot! You can pay by cheque or automated bank transfer, have a look at 'How to Book' for more information.

Do ring or email us to find out about special offers for last minute bookings. We hope our website has the information you need, but do contact us if we can help in any way - either go to 'contact us' to email us, or ring us.  We look forward to hearing from you!

Green living:  We've been enjoying green living for many, many years, growing almost all of our fruit , vegetables, eggs and meat; preserving food for the winter and harvesting wood fuel from the farm hedges.

Water:
we have our own water supply, which supplies the farm, the farmhouse and the cottage. There is a water purifier/filter in the Cottage. During spells of dry weather, we ask our visitors to use water carefully, showering or sharing baths and not leaving taps running. This is very important, as we also need our water supply for our animals to drink and for growing our fruit and vegetables!

Drainage: We have a septic tank (no mains drainage here!) and we have to look after it! That means only using eco-detergents and cleaners (which we provide) – and we ask our visitors to use eco-friendly toiletries if possible - and minimal quantities of shampoos etc .

Hot water is heated using mainly off-peak electricity or, in cooler weather, the Rayburn and farm-grown logs.
